Have your say

I want this blog, and the Slipstream podcasts, to help you in your ministry context. Because of this, I want your comments, suggestions, and questions. Are there particular people you’d like to hear from on the podcast? Are there particular issues you want to explore? What would be most helpful?

Have your say on this page. Or if you want to say something about an individual programme, add a comment on the blog page for that programme.

Thanks,

David

I have been running a Cafe Church for three years in the very small vilage of Redgrave. We have a dozen mainly elderly people and have seen five come to Christ.
It is fully interactive apart from an interlude piece of music. We get into things much more deeply than any church sermons and I have to explain. questions that are too big to deal with on the spot are written down I I tackle them in succeeding weeks.
I advertise – not for people wh go to church – you set the agenda and mean it.
It is brilliant and as well as the people who come I have learnt a lot because I have to think out my reasoning. Only this week we took on Euthanasia and worked through what value our lives were even when we were incapable. being there to receive love and care hasa value in itself. The old are of no less value that a young person. It still cost Jesus the cross to save them. My biggest problems come when Christians appear as they want to set the agenda. I want people to know about Jesus. They often want people to know about Satan and the fall.
I only started it because I had to leave the church I pastored but God has blessed it remarkably. The first week an elderlay lady went home, picked up the phone and got right with her son. She now says, “I had hate in my heart but now it has gone.” What was the subject? Science and Christianity. What did I say to do that. I don’t know.
They say two things – ‘you don’t preach at us’ and ‘I have never been able to ask questions before.’

Joy Bingham (20:03:55) :

Thank you for the email info I receive–I browse the relevant bits at the time and seem to have filed away in my memory an article about christians in the business world. Now I can’t find it! We have a 40 year old who has come back to christian faith that he cold shouldered in his adolescence. He has been broken by wrong values expressed, and experiences he has had in the business scene but is also very gifted as a design engineer. Is there helpful reading/christian conferences/workshops he can link into to show him you can live a christian life and be a successful business man?
any help will be greatly appreciated (from just down the road in Lymington)….Joy Bingham (Pastor)
