About me

Hi – I’m David Couchman, the author of this blog.
My home is in Southampton, England, and I’m married and have two grown up daughters. Our family’s home church is Above Bar Church.
My day job is as the Director of Focus – a Christian Charity that produces DVDs, web sites, and training courses.
I have a degree in Natural Sciences and Theology from Selwyn College, Cambridge, and a Masters’ degree in Electronics from Southampton.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching science fiction and fantasy movies, reading, walking, photography, and playing around with computers.
Here’s Phil Prior’s interview with me about the mission of Focus:

The opinions on this blog are all my own – they don’t necessarily represent the official position of Focus, or the views of the trustees.

Hi David.
I am a 40 year old Baptist pastor in Newcastle, Australia. I drive a taxi 5 nights a week and seek opportunities to talk to people about God. I am in the process of setting up a missional church in the city to connect with the unchurched people I am meeting.
I would love to connect with you, learn from your journey and hear more about your own ministry.
Regards
Hello Les -
Thanks for your comment – I’d be delighted to dialogue with you and exchange ideas. My story is pretty much what’s on this page. The mission I work with used to produce radio programmes in India and in the former Soviet Union. Over the past ten years, our work has changed geographically, to have a greater focus on the ‘western world,’ and technically, to using web sites, DVDs, training courses and the ‘new media’ generally. A lot of this is reflected on the Facing the Challenge web site.
With best wishes,
David
Hello David,
I have until recently been on the Board of HCJB-UK and have received your mailings with interest over a number of years. Since I retired from the BBC I have been involved in a small scale media ministry producing audio and video for the internet for my own site (and others) in Scotland. I came across your site today when I was checking out “the churchless faith” and I am really just saying hello!
Regards,
Stephen
